Why we came together.
The starting point was the people making the music: talented artists who needed a support system, opportunities to collaborate and space to develop their own identities. Million Vibes grew around that shared work, with particular attention to Black and diaspora artists finding their place in the industry.
Our roots are in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The artists carry influences from Nigeria, St. Lucia, Lebanon, Palestine, Canada and beyond. Afrobeats, Afrofusion, hip-hop, R&B and other global sounds meet here, with an outlook that connects the East Coast to the wider diaspora.
A collective built around the artists.
Million Vibes works across recording, production, visuals, creative direction, artist development and performance. Collaboration and a close support system connect that work between releases and shows.
We are a collective, rather than a traditional record label. Artists retain ownership of their work. Each artist brings their own voice, identity and catalogue to the shared world of MV.
One ecosystem. Different ways in.
Million Vibes sits within the wider TIME Inc. music and culture ecosystem. MV’s focus is the artists and the work around their music. Sunset Beats, co-founded by Stak and Kola, develops music-led events and community experiences, with Sunset Beats Sound System supporting the DJ side.
Soulstice Sounds is KAYO’s own imprint and a creative collaborator in this circle. It has its own history, live gatherings, mixes and conversations. These projects connect through people and collaboration while retaining their own identities.
